Rainbow Pride is an event to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community which is held in Auckland in February.
I had wanted to join Pride march since I learned about it on Caritas Saturday “Global Citizenship Learning” course.

We walked across the town with saying “I is for intersex, not for invisible” or “No more secrecy.”
A lot of people were joining the parade with rainbow flags regardless of the differences among them such as queer or ally (cisgender and heterosexual people who support the LGBTQ+ community.)

I had so many eye-opening experiences through this March.
I used to think New Zealand is a leading and inclusive country in terms of gender, but my host mother’s sister told me that she had a hard time coming out about her sexual orientation.

Also they asked me about the situation in Japan, saying, “Which is more inclusive, Japan or New Zealand?”
“Do you learn about gender at school?”
“Is the Japanese government trying to do anything for the LGBTQ+ community?”
I keenly felt that I should learn more about the Japanese situation.

レインボープライドとは、２月にオークランドで開催されるLGBTQ+コミュニティを祝福するイベントです。カリタス土曜講座の「地球市民学習」でプライドマーチのことを知ったときから、参加したいと思っていたのです。

「I is for intersex, not for invisible」「No more secrecy」などと言いながら、町を歩きました。
パレードには、クィアやアライ（LGBTQ+コミュニティをサポートするシスジェンダーや異性愛者）といった違いに関係なく、多くの人がレインボーフラッグを掲げて参加していました。

このパレードで、私はたくさんの目からウロコの体験をしました。
私は、ニュージーランドは様々なジェンダーを受け入れる先進的でインクルーシブな国だと思っていましたが、ホストマザーのお姉さんは、自分の性的指向をカミングアウトするのに苦労したと言っていました。

また、日本の状況についても聞かれました。「日本とニュージーランドはどちらがインクルーシブなの？」「学校ではジェンダーについて学ぶのか？」「日本政府はLGBTQ+のコミュニティに対して何かしようとしているのか？」
私は日本の状況をもっと知るべきだと痛感しました。
